Our food is not just something that keeps us from getting hungry, food is needed for the health of our cells and our whole bodies. Our food thus is essential for not only the PREVENTION of disease and illness, but in the TREATMENT too!
A Nutritionist follows the 6 Core Naturopathic Principles (devised by Hippocrates, the father of modern medicine):

2. Find the cause,
3. Treat the whole body,
4. Doctor as teacher (ie, teach and empower people),
5. Prevention,
6. Encourage the healing power of nature (help the body to heal).
Many people may know what a Naturopath does, being a sort of “natural GP”. The only difference between a Naturopath and a Nutritionist is that the Naturopath is trained in using herbal medicines.
As a Holistic Nutritionist, I help people on multiple aspects of their health, being physical, mental, emotional, spiritual and environmental. I use skills and modalities other than just food to identify the cause of health conditions, then I treat the cause, and the symptoms and health conditions then go away!
My treatments can include vitamin, mineral and other nutritional supplements, nutrition and lifestyle advice for prevention or treatment of any symptoms or health conditions. In comparison, GPs are symptom-focused by prescribing drugs to hide symptoms (but not fixing the real cause), but a Nutritionist finds and treats the cause, and this allows the body to heal and recover.
